Do you want to know how to quit smoking weed? You are getting closer to the help you need.

Now if you have made it this far then it is very likely that you are in the same situation as we speak to the one I used to be in. First of all let me tell you that you are not alone and your goals of stopping smoking weed are in reach. The biggest step is starting to look for help. Don’t get me wrong there are many other large steps along the way but this one is the most important.

Ok now if you are thinking well… do I really have a problem its only a bit of weed right. STOP right there! You do have a problem. Weed is a drug that is addictive and can mess up your mind.

Let me tell you a bit about my past before I ever dreamt of asking anyone how to quit smoking weed.

I was a heavy weed smoker. I was always the big guy like look at me look at how much I can smoke. I was the guy saying why is weed illegal, alcohol is way more dangerous than weed and that is legal. Weed is totally safe God made it right… (lol it must be safe then if God created it…).

I started when I was around 15 and smoked it until I was 25, so 10 years of abuse and by the time I finished I was a mess. Yes a mess and all from that great drug that your friends tell you is safe.

When I started it was the usual thing a couple of joints with friends but then it progressed until I was smoking an ounce or more a week. My whole life functioned around either smoking weed or getting some more weed. By the end of my smoking as you can probably imagine the getting it part of it wasn’t really a problem as it is readily available pretty much anywhere you go.

In my school years I was a fairly confident kid. Now looking back it really didn’t take long for that to disappear. I had a select group of friends who stuck together and at the time we where cool. Looking back at things we where anything but cool.

My life had turned into a sad little life yet my mind was telling me it was other people who had the problem and how society and anyone with anything to do with it was against me.

I went on like this for a long time then one day something just clicked. I need to STOP smoking weed!

I had went on with this thought before actually doing anything about it I mean, I had never even attempted this before and the sheer thought of it sent chills down my spine, it was all I had known in all of my teenage and early adult life.

Quitting smoking cold turkey is not easy. Trust me, I’ve been there, and like over 95% of smokers who want to quit, I failed in my first three attempts. But, you can quit smoking within the next 10 minutes with the right information, support system, and personal motivation.

Here are five tricks I used to quit smoking cold turkey:

1. While many smokers choose a gradual approach to smoking cessation and find comfort in using nicotine gum and patches, these methods would not work for me. The theory behind these methods is that you can retain the nicotine in your system while you learn to live without the physical act of smoking a cigarette. I learned the hard way that the patch and gum just prolonged my addiction to nicotine, making it very easy for me to fall back into the smoking habit. I had to swear off nicotine and cigarettes at the same time.

So, here’s the trick: Stop now, cold turkey, and immediately implement the following tricks in this article.

2. The second trick is to clearly define why you want to quit smoking. You need to reach the point where your motivation to quit smoking exceeds your desire to smoke. Generally, successful quitters can relate to quitting because of health concerns, pressure from family, friends and co-workers, or simply the need to stop spending so much money on a lousy habit.

When you can find and focus on the key reason why you want to stop smoking, you will be half way home.

3. Nicotine is a powerful drug, and for many of us getting this smelly monkey off of our back is next to impossible without help. So for your third trick, I highly encourage you to get the people around you involved. If your spouse is a smoker, ask him or her to join you in quitting, or at least to avoid smoking around you. If your co-workers take frequent smoke breaks, find something else to do-but do not follow them out to the smoking area. In short, the third trick is to ask for help.

4. I used to believe smoking was a way to relieve stress, which turns out to be a myth, since nicotine is a stimulant. The smoking habit creates the illusion of relieving stress because human beings are comforted by engaging in habitual behavior. It’s the act of engaging in the physical act of habit smoking that offers relief, not the nicotine or smoking itself.

So, your fourth, and perhaps the most important, trick is to replace the bad habit of smoking with a good habit-which is what the final trick to quitting smoking cold turkey is all about.

5. To replace the habit of smoking with a more constructive habit, I succeeded in my efforts to quit by taking up exercise and improving my eating habits. Once you accept the idea of leading a healthier lifestyle, you will find the idea of sabotaging your healthy lifestyle by smoking repulsive.

If you really want to beat cigarettes, then all you need is the right information, support, and personal motivation. If you will continually immerse yourself in information about how to stop, and resolve to never quit trying to beat the nicotine habit, you will succeed.

Decide to quit smoking right now. Do it for your health, your friends, family, and your co-workers, and the money you will save.

Smoking is a health scourge. Millions of people have died as a result of this nasty habit, and most smokers are well aware of the health risks, but are trapped by their habit into continuing. If they could, most smokers would choose to quit, but a nicotine addiction is a hard habit to kick, especially if you’ve smoked for decades.

As a result, most smokers seek some kind of aid in order to quit. This may include nicotine gum, nicotine patches or the quit smoking laser. But how can a laser help someone to quit smoking?

How it works

The quit smoking laser is supposed to work in the same way that acupuncture works, without the needles. By using a low grade laser, which is aimed at acupuncture points, the doctor will stimulate the nerve endings in those regions. This in turn is supposed to release endorphins into your body, which will help relieve the stress that is associated with nicotine withdrawal.

Laser treatment is often coupled with counselling, in a two pronged approach to quit smoking. Some laser treatment centers say that the laser treatment will only take one session of 30 minutes in order to work, while others say it will take up to three sessions.

The quit smoking laser will not harm you, and most laser treatment centers say that the treatment actually promotes a feeling of well-being. In some cases, you may experience a slight bit of dizziness or light-headedness, which quickly fades.

But does it work?

This is a sticky point. Laser treatment centers say that they have close to a 90% success rate. But many people will argue that of course they will say that. After all, they’re out to sell you their services.

The fact is, that while laser treatment centers will quote what they claim are facts, there are very few actual scientific studies that will back up their claims. In most cases, their sites will not post links to the studies they mention, and it’s very difficult to ascertain whether or not the stop smoking laser actually works.

Does this mean that it doesn’t work?

Not at all. It just means that the evidence to date is inconclusive. It can be argued that the stop smoking laser treatment convinces the patient that it works, and so it does. It can also be argued that the actual counselling that the laser centers offer is the thing that finally breaks the habit. However, it can also be argued that the stop smoking laser is a revolutionary medical breakthrough, and it absolutely works.

The last word

The point is that it’s up to you to find out. If you’re a smoker, and you’ve tried everything else to quit, the stop smoking laser treatment may be the final solution. Keep in mind that just one stop smoking laser treatment can cost upwards of $300 US, which puts it out of the price range of many.

The Hard Question

Most smokers have asked the question: “How do you quit smoking?” For some it is a passing fancy and not given too much thought. For some it is a serious contemplation. This is an important distinction. If you want to quit, you really have to want to quit. There should be no half measures if you are seriously thinking about beating the habit of cigarette smoking. So the answer to the question, how do you quit smoking? Is that you must have a focussed and determined approach if you want to succeed. The correct mind set is half the battle.

Reasons to Quit

It all sounds so simple, doesn’t it? You want to succeed so you will succeed. I’m starting to sound like a third rate motivational speaker. If determination was all that was required to quit smoking then the tobacco companies would have ceased trading many years ago. You need a plan. Think hard about why you want to quit. For many it will be for health reasons. The hazards of smoking are well known and the damage caused by smoking affects every organ in the body. This probably remains the best reason for quitting cigarette smoking, but it is not the only one. Smoking is a financial burden that few can afford these days. And even if you can afford to smoke isn’t there better ways to spend your hard earned cash? Here is a useful exercise: work out how much you spend in a week on cigarettes then calculate how long, in that week, you have to work to fund your habit. Other reasons could be social isolation and inconvenience. Or it could be that you would like to improve your overall appearance. Smoking makes you pale and sallow and leaves unsightly stains on fingers and teeth.

How do you Quit Smoking?

Having established the motivation to quit we now need to address the fundamental question, how do you quit smoking? It is true there are a myriad ways to quit. A simple Google search on ‘quit smoking’ will illustrate my point. Finding the best quit smoking method or programme for you will take some research. We are all different in how we respond to a given technique. A quit smoking programme suitable for me may not be the ideal approach for you. The next few paragraphs will look at techniques, in the broad sense, of how do you quit smoking?

How do you Quit Smoking- The Iron Will Approach

Stopping without help or aids is the most popular technique. It requires no outlay in terms of money or research. An iron will and determination is required to succeed. Most humans do not have the physical and mental capacity to stop using this method, at least on the first attempt. The secret of success using this method is perseverance and determination. If you fail, then try again. However, it is important to learn from past failures and apply lessons learnt to subsequent quit smoking attempts. Others taper down their cigarette consumption day by day until they have ceased smoking altogether. Sounds easy in practice but in reality is extremely hard to do; this method is probably the least successful of all the techniques for reasons which are obvious.

How do you Quit Smoking- Drugs or Alternative Medicine

There are drugs out there that may help. Nicotine replacement therapy may help with the removal of the worst of the nicotine cravings. While this technique helps to stop smoking you still remain addicted to nicotine. At some stage you will have to tackle the ogre, nicotine addiction itself. Other drugs act by blocking nicotine receptors in the brain (Champix and Zanax). These drugs have been clinically shown to improve quit rates significantly. However, the majority of people will relapse within a year. Some find alternative medicine a quit smoking help. For smokers interested in these methods there are many therapies to choose from. Personally I think the vast majority of these alternative therapies are useless at tackling the physical dimension of the quit smoking process. But there can be no doubt, that to those who believe in the effectiveness of these treatments, they may offer a degree of support.

Quit Programmes

Then you have an unbelievable number of quit smoking programmes each stating astonishing and unrealistic quit rates. There are quit programmes out there that may help you in the quitting process but there are also a lot of programmes that are of doubtful value. Do your research and be mindful of the old Latin adage: ‘caveat emptor’.

In this article I have briefly touched on the how do you quit smoking question. Some of the topics touched on here I hope to expand upon in later articles. In the final analysis the answer to the question, how do you quit smoking, is going to be determined by what sort of person you are. A practical and pragmatic individual may go for techniques and drugs which help with combating the physical withdrawal symptoms. Those with a strong spiritual sense may consider alternative therapies such as hypnosis and acupuncture as a suitable quit aid. There is an important point to be made regardless of techniques used. Quitting is never going to be easy, unless you are particularly favoured by nature. There are no effortless cures or fixes. It will require work and a degree of iron will if you want to truly remain smoke free for ever.

If you are looking for quit smoking help so you can really quit smoking this time, then this article is for you. First we’ll look at the number one reason people have for wanting to stop smoking and why it is not good enough, then we will look at your bodies rebellion when you start the process of quitting smoking, and finally we’ll look at some ideas that will help you get through it all and achieve your goal.

Reasons to Quit Smoking
There are many good reasons to quit smoking and the big one is that smoking will lead to various illnesses and your premature death. Since these things are off in the future these reasons don’t work for most people. I’ve seen smoking victims hooked up to oxygen, saying they want to quit but having accepted their condition, believing it to be irreversible, and still sneaking smokes. The thing is you have to find the reasons that are right for you. You have to take those potential illnesses and while you are healthy see them in place now chaining you to your bed, see yourself choking for air and not being able to get out and do the things you love doing. Is it really worth giving up all of the things you love doing for a smoke? Failure to bring this reason into the now, failure to make it up close and personal is the biggest reason people fail when using health reasons as motivation for quitting smoking.

The Cigarette Addition
Your body will fight you with its cravings when you begin to give up smoking. This is because you are plain and simply addicted. It is interesting how people will resist a prescription from their doctor when the doctor tells them they will probably have to keep taking the medicine the rest of their lives to control their health condition; those same people don’t give a second thought to their cigarette addiction. Whereas the doctor seeks to help with medicine, the cigarette pushers only seek to hook you so that you pay them forever for the privilege of ruining your health.

Your Best Hope for Quitting Smoking
What can you do about all of this? Since you are addicted already your body sends signals to the brain that causes your cravings, your brain is conditioned to answer those cravings by grabbing a smoke. Have you ever tried putting your cigarettes someplace a little difficult to get to in order to cut down? Did you notice what most people notice that soon you have adapted and you go and get the cigarette from the new place with hardly any thought or effort? This is because you have let smoking become an unconscious act. You have abdicated your responsibility for doing it.

To counter this unconscious act, you have to have a way to keep the reaching for a cigarette in your conscious mind. One of the methods that will help you master quitting smoking is by consciously conditioning of your mind and body with awareness of what you are doing, and with an empowering self-talk response to it. Your mind is powerful and it can deliver you from cigarettes and the terrible end that most smokers face. Learn to speak to the cigarette urge.

We’ve looked at the big reason most people want to quit, we’ve looked at you’re bodies addiction to cigarettes and it’s rebellion against stopping smoking, and finally we have briefly discussed conditioning your mind to be able to counter the resistance with awareness and self talk. These tips will help you really stop smoking this time.
